Obama and Tonsils

In trying to drum up support for his health care plan, Obama described a parent who brings a child to the doctor with a sore throat:
“Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that’s out there. … The doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, ‘You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid’s tonsils out.’”
Yeah, but if Obama has his way with the health care overhaul, you’ll likely find the opposite happening. A kid comes to the doctor with tonsillitis and the doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, ‘You know what? The government doesn’t pay enough for a tonsillectomy to cover my expenses. I save a lot more money if I tell this kid it’s just a sore throat and send him packing with a prescription for some antibiotics.’
And, if the doctor is honest enough to schedule the kid for surgery, it would be a miracle if the kid doesn’t develop some other complication as a result of the 8-month wait he’ll likely have for a spot in the operating room.
(You don’t believe me? Take a look at Canada’s healthcare system. Why do you think they’re all running across the border here for medical care??)

I previously posted about the latest rash of scandalous photos coming out of Afghanistan showing U.S. military atrocities under Obama’s command, and wondering if the media would pick up on it the way they did when it was Bush’s army… Well, here’s a twist I wasn’t expecting: yes, one of the U.S. media, Rolling Stone, [...]
Jeffrey Goldberg, a correspondent for the Atlantic, cast a spotlight on yet another disgustingly overt example of pure bias in the mainstream media, particularly at the anti-Semitic Reuters newswire. He points to a Reuters news item which contains the following despicable sentences: Police said it was a “terrorist attack” — Israel’s term for a Palestinian [...]
In the [sparse] reporting of the Palestinians’ massacre of the Fogel family, several newspapers stand out with their distorted sense of “balance”, i.e., where they feel overwhelmingly uncomfortable describing the barbarity of the Palestinians without at least taking a swipe or two at the Israelis, no matter how patently irrelevant or disgustingly disrespectful it comes [...]
