Hamas Diverts Cemetery Cement To Fortify Its Bunkers

You know how every so often you hear some news report about how an “oppressive” Israel is restricting the passage into Palestinian areas of such seemingly benign humanitarian supplies supposedly for building homes, helping people, etc… things like cement, ambulances, generators, fuel, etc.? The press loves to harp on that without ever really looking at why these things are scrutinized by Israel.
Well, here’s an example of why. The Jerusalem Post has a report citing IDF intelligence accusing Hamas of diverting cement from its intended destination (a British cemetery in Gaza) to their own bases and bunkers to fortify them for their warfare against Israel.
In late July, [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak decided to permit a one-time transfer of more than 300 tons of cement to rebuild a damaged flour mill, a sewage treatment facility and the British cemetery. Israeli representatives had met with representatives from different international organizations that operate in Gaza, such as UNRWA and the World Bank, to coordinate the transfer.
The IDF sources said that Hamas’s seizure of part of the cement raised a red flag for additional transfers. It was also, one official said, a “blatant cynical use of humanitarian aid that is meant to be used to help the poor people of Gaza but is instead used by Hamas for its military infrastructure.”
The irony is that you hardly ever read stories of how an oppressive Hamas regime is actually committing these humanitarian crimes. Instead, blaming the entity reacting to such corruption, the media love to instead point to Israel’s restrictions on these transfers as the “real” humanitarian crime.

I previously posted about the latest rash of scandalous photos coming out of Afghanistan showing U.S. military atrocities under Obama’s command, and wondering if the media would pick up on it the way they did when it was Bush’s army… Well, here’s a twist I wasn’t expecting: yes, one of the U.S. media, Rolling Stone, [...]
Jeffrey Goldberg, a correspondent for the Atlantic, cast a spotlight on yet another disgustingly overt example of pure bias in the mainstream media, particularly at the anti-Semitic Reuters newswire. He points to a Reuters news item which contains the following despicable sentences: Police said it was a “terrorist attack” — Israel’s term for a Palestinian [...]
In the [sparse] reporting of the Palestinians’ massacre of the Fogel family, several newspapers stand out with their distorted sense of “balance”, i.e., where they feel overwhelmingly uncomfortable describing the barbarity of the Palestinians without at least taking a swipe or two at the Israelis, no matter how patently irrelevant or disgustingly disrespectful it comes [...]
