Naked Emperor News has just posted a great clip on YouTube. In it (seen below, followed by an excerpted transcript), you’ll hear Obama complaining about Congress voting on bills in haste without reading them.

Of course, though, he wasn’t talking about the 111th Congress voting on his supported initiatives. Noooo, he was talking about Congress during Bush’s administration voting on Bush’s supported initiatives! As you can very well imagine, the Hypocrite-In-Chief only seems to have a problem when this happens for Bush’s agenda, but when it comes to his agenda, it goes without saying that there’s no need for Congress to actually read what they’re voting on!

As I mentioned before here, our Democrat Congressmen even go so far as to laugh at the notion of reading a bill before voting! The most recent example is described briefly here, with the Cap and Trade Energy Tax hitting 1500+ pages (300 of which were added on the morning of the vote)… a classic example of exactly what Obama is describing!

Well, I guess I won’t hold my breath waiting for a reprise of his rush-without-reading diatribe.

BARACK OBAMA: …When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what’s in them and nobody has read them.

RANDI RHODES: 14 pounds it was!

BARACK OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate then these kinds of things happen. And I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

In a pretty interesting discovery, it has been found that Obama’s EPA administration has blocked the release of a scientific report questioning the science behind global warming, which would embarrass the Obama administration and all his Democrat cronies in Congress, especially now that they just voted for the Cap and Trade Energy Tax bill with a lot of beating-the-global-warming-drum fanfare.

Apparently, the researcher who authored the report has been forcibly “reassigned” and the report has been “suppressed”. Is it just me or is this very reminiscent of Soviet tactics for controlled propaganda and keeping the “people” in the dark about the dirty secrets the leader-knows-best government doesn’t want you to know?

Props to Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) for ordering an investigation into this alleged suppression.

UPDATE:
Kimberley Strassel picked this up with even more detail for an excellent opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal.

What is this world coming to?
Obama must be ecstatic; after all, this is just in time for confirmation hearings for 67%-reversed Sonia Sotomayor and for pushing through the Senate version of the Cap and Trade Energy Tax bill.

Hey, while Obama’s at it, why not take a second stab at pushing through his anti-philanthropy legislation which they self-preservedly rejected the first time around…

The only hitch is that MN governor, Republican Tim Pawlenty, still needs to sign the election certificate, which he indicated he will only do if forced to by the court, and, as of yet, the court hasn’t explicitly done that. Here’s hoping…

While I often reserve some respect for Anthony Weiner (D-NY) due to his sometimes sensitive and sensible positions, every now and then he does something so stupid and demonstrative of such a lapse of intelligence and good judgment that it makes me absolutely livid.

The last exchange of letters I had with him on such an infuriating occasion was when he voted NO to prohibit partial birth abortion, a disgustingly barbaric murderous procedure. Considering the other abortive options still left entirely available by the bill and, consequently, that the bill did not affect cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother, I could not for the life of me understand what motivated an otherwise intelligent person like Weiner to take such a twisted position. But, I digress…

This time, it’s the backward logic that he was babbling on the House floor regarding the Cap and Trade Energy Tax bill that got my head spinning. Either he didn’t realize the stupidity of his own words—or he did realize the stupidity of many of his colleagues in Congress and the public—when he ridiculously insinuated that opposing the bill would fund Iran and Saudi Arabia:

Ahmadinejad, the Saudi Kingdom — they want exactly what my Republican friends are advocating… We can’t come to the floor and say I’m outraged at what’s going on in Iran…and then come to the floor and continue the policies that are paying for them!

It’s a shame he had to stoop to such a level of partisan politics and sacrifice his integrity and his intelligence for something so patently fallacious.

James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal explains how Weiner apparently didn’t even know what he was voting for when he wrote:

Saudi Arabia and Iran, respectively, have the world’s largest and third-largest proven oil reserves, according to the CIA World Factbook. There’s just one problem: According to a Bloomberg report, the legislation would actually create an incentive to use foreign oil rather than domestic, by imposing a more burdensome tax on the latter:

Refiners would have to buy allowances for carbon dioxide spewed from their plants and from vehicles when motorists burn their fuel. Imports would need permits only for the latter, which ConocoPhillips Chief Executive Officer Jim Mulva said would create a competitive imbalance.

“It will lead to the opportunity for foreign sources to bring in transportation fuels at a lower cost, which will have an adverse impact to our industry, potential shutdown of refineries and investment and, ultimately, employment,” Mulva said in a June 16 interview in Detroit. . . .

The same amount of gasoline that would have $1 in carbon costs imposed if it were domestic would have 10 cents less added if it were imported, according to energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie in Houston.

UPDATE:
Now, Henry Waxman (D-CA) is getting in on the act, saying that ”they [Republicans] want to play politics and see if they can keep any achievements from being accomplished that may be beneficial to the Democrats. They’re rooting against the country and I think in this case, even rooting against the world because the world needs to get its act together to stop global warming.”

In other words, if you don’t vote for my 1500-page bill, you hate this country, and you want to destroy the world.

Someone should remind that loudmouth that gouging our citizens through energy taxes to pay for cockamamie schemes like the one he cooked up cannot possibly be very endearing to “this country”.

Furthermore, if we’re the only ones making these sacrifices while every other country is smart enough to sit this one out, then we end up being the only country that stands to lose—lose money to other countries who don’t pay these crazy energy taxes, lose jobs to other countries’ workforces who gain contracts at the expense of our energy workers, and lose productivity to other countries’ factories who don’t face such crippling overhead costs to produce goods.

If anyone is the unpatriotic partisan windbag, it’s Waxman and his cronies.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) fought a noble crusade against the Cap n’ Trade Energy Tax Bill on the House Floor on Friday, reading an hour’s worth of choice parts from the bill, illustrating the taxing effect it will have on everyone.

(As The Hill reports, when asked why did that, he responded, “Hey, people deserve to know what’s in this pile of s–t.”)

House Weasel Henry Waxman (D-CA) obviously didn’t like this, especially since the 1500+ page bill was fast-tracked through so quickly that virtually no one had a chance to read it in its entirety. Now that Boehner was using his privilege as Leader to claim unlimited speaking time, and exposing some of the outrageous provisions it includes, Waxman (and many other Democrats) were naturally getting nervous.

So, Waxman tried to shut him up by pressing the Speaker to cut off his time to speak, only to be rebuffed by the House rules (as mentioned above), after which Boehner asked:

the Chairman [of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Henry Waxman] has the audacity to drop a 300+ page amendment in the hopper at 3:09 a.m. this morning! And so, I would ask my colleagues: don’t you think the American people expect us to understand what’s in this bill before we vote on it?!

Check out the clip here:

And there are a couple of other interesting clips related to this, such as this clip of Warren Buffet slamming the Cap n’ Trade Energy Tax as a huge hit for everyone, and this clip by American Solutions showing Obama’s original promise not to raise taxes, while explaining how his plan is going to hit any users of energy (i.e., everyone).
